I have not updated the Bios, it is the version that came with the board. Posted 23 September - Copy the 8 files ONLY not the 2 folders to a formatted floppy disk. The screen should then change to Windows Setup with a blue background.

I am in the process of relaying the method I used successfully to all of these web sites. Here's where the rub comes in: My system is up and running now. I will try to report the error messages in another post, because I am unable to copy and paste the boot-up messages here.

This will allow the SATA hard drive to be detected and installation will proceed as expected. I've forgotten my password. Then, install Windows to the temp drive.

Please remember to be considerate of other members. When it reboots, it goes thru bios and s-ata check recognizing the 74gb raptor and gb goes thru the quick sroll of IRQ settings and then goes gaid blank screen when the Windows Boot screen should appear. When you boot from an XP installation CD, what exactly happens?

It found some a7n8xe- drives Why are these plugged in at this time? Did this to test if SATA drive might be causing this. How is it partitioned and formatted at this time, and what is on it? Are you new to LinuxQuestions. Immediately after the installation is completed, install all the latest drivers for the motherboard from the pre-prepared CD or flashdrive.

I hit f6 when called for, insert floppy disc in A: I don't know a7n8x-w particular board, but I'm guessing from the model it's an nvidia. I would like to install windows on the Sata and take the IDE out.

I would like to get to the point where I can load windows onto the Sata drive and let it boot from that disk, deulxe remove the ide drive completely. The fact that Windows Setup is not finding any hard disk drive leads me to ask about the history of that GB HDD, and its current state.
